how I N S A N E is this necklace? what is it you ask? oh just an antique Masonic secret ball charm! It's at least a century old and opens up to an inverted pyramid cross etched with a series of Masonic symbols. I guess Freemasons used to adorn their pocket watches with these charms. So fancy. I can't express how cool I think this is, especially because this is one of the rare few that opens up into an inverted cross....jesus how fucking amazing. Eric, damn you for being such a brilliant giver of gifts. I♥YOU

Found it at a vintage warehouse and it still had the soldier's full name in the name tag slot...a little creepy! Since these pics, I have been on 4 flights, 2 train rides, 4 cities, 3 countries and I am exhausted with just 3 more flights to go! Eric couldn't come with me on this trip so I am solo for the most part. Thank the GODS for my dear friend in Hong Kong for hooking me up with a little stash for the last 10 days of my trip to keep me SANE! Thanks C! ♥

Work has been so busy...and on top of that we moved offices this week from Hollywood to downtown. We originally started downtown and man does it feel good to be back in the hooood! Close to the fabrics, the vendors, the homeless, the CHAOS! It just feels right here.

I'm baaacckkk....from a 2 week long trip to Vegas and New York for tradeshows. Sales season is always so brutal; making samples, shooting lookbooks, setting up booths, writing orders, and then having to do it all over again in a different city. Nonetheless, I love what I do (most of the time) and feel so blessed for the momentum we've gained this past season!

Sorry for the lack of posts!!! Aside from being busy as hell, I've been wearing new UNIF nonstop, hence I can't photograph what I wear until it is out in production. TOP SECRET! You'll just have to wait and see!!!!

I was in China for a two thumbs down Christmas (working), but hopped over to Taiwan to ~~spend New year's~~ EAT before jetting back to China for more work. Here's a quick break down of the past 3 weeks

one of the reasons for going to Taiwan was to hang out with one of our favorite accounts NEU!

I asked how their empire of over 10 stores began and YiLing proceeded to tell me the tale of her being a rebellious kid that racked up a hefty bill on her dad's credit card. To pay it off she would go to the local wholesale mart and hand pick clothes and flip them for a profit on the streets (literally). Shortly after, she began to fly to Los Angeles to hand pick brands to exclusively sell in Taiwan. Her reputation for picking the best stuff soon caught on. Meanwhile, Stan Lee (literally the king of streetwear in Taiwan) was one of the first people to own a skate shop in the country. He noticed YiLing's talent for slanging women's clothes, so they teamed up and have been killing it together since 1998! If you get a chance, go visit one of their many stores across Taiwan or their online store HERE!

For new years, Yiling took us to Underworld, a cool little live house. The local Taiwanese band Macbeth was surprisingly good!

We met this girl in China that owned a little shop with tons of cool stuff. I picked up this pigment sprayed buttery soft leather jacket from her. The actual color of the leather is a cream/tan. I prefer to see more of it, so I will probably go at it with some sanding paper soon.

I'm finally back from China! While I was gone, I missed my cousin's birthday so today we spent some time hanging out at Rose Hills by his grave. It may sound kind of creepy but I enjoy going there watching the sunset, smoking stogies, and reminiscing on the good old times with him. Shawn would have been 32. He passed at the young age of 23 when I was 18 due to bone cancer. He was like my brother and I still miss him so much. Happy Birthday Shawn!

A disheveled and star-struck me with Ann Valerie Hash. I had the opportunity to tour her amazing Maison, an old theater and ballroom. I was too afraid to take pics so check it out here . Goddd do I admire her as a designer. She makes me feel so less important dammit! I'm from from LA and I own 2 small brands. Ann has an official label of haute couture in Paris. I bow down! I felt like my work was peanuts compared to what her and her team create in her fashion house. The quality and detail that go into her garments are simply inspiring. I hear the word "couture" all the time (especially being in America where it is blatantly slapped on anything garment related...ahem..juicy) but it really means something much greater when in the presence of it.

and now you can have a taste of my poor photography. I decided to take most pics in 35mm...Well, I've learned that I'm horrible and ruined most of them by not properly winding the film or double exposing them...but here are some viewable ones!!

just arrived in Tokyo....thank god! China was a bit brutal..especially alone with no proper internet! I can finally update with these old pics though I did try to update there (blogger is banned in China) with no success...I guess I'm just not hacker material

how lovely is this bag? The sherpa part is so soft and buttery! I got it from the crazy looking Russian guy who re-works vintage leathers/furs...if you frequent the fairfax flea market enough, you know who I'm talking about!!

Love this vintage 70's thermal too and am especially obsessed with the ribbing on the cuffs and neck. I originally found it for Eric but it's just too good...

China was crrrraaazzyy....I have to admit, it was VERY lonely to be there by myself. I didn't think it would be that bad, considering I got to eat a lavish breakfast buffet everyday (hmmm love buffets...) BUT after 14 days, french toast and made-to-order omelets just didn't do anything for me anymore! I needed someone to talk to! wah wah wah....

There was a typhoon for the first couple of days, and walking through high speed wind/rain with a million samples plus not being able to get a taxi was NOT FUN!!

Wow, I finally have a second to update this thing! I just got back from Project Show Vegas tonight and I am SO glad it's over! This past month has been non-stop work preparing for this trade show...from lookbook shoots to making linesheets to dyeing garments in our bathtub to sewing labels on...it was crazy!!! There were definite breakdown moments but it all paid off. UNIF and PlayMe exceeded our expectations in sales and I cannot wait for our lines to hit the stores. Thank you to all the buyers that took time out to visit us and Olivia for being a great intern!

Love my Hysteric Glamour bag. If you know me personally, you already know my obsession with Hysteric Glamour. I have a whole closet section dedicated to the cult brand where I store pieces I have collected since the age 13. I got this bag back in the year 2000 in Shibuya. I was visiting my Dad and he tried to buy me a purse at Prada (I don't get to see him often). Oversized bags like this one are great for stuffing endless amounts of samples to run back and forth from downtown to hollywood with....errr at least, that's what I use it for. Other than its size and functionality, I think the handwork and colors are beautiful. Eric bought it from a local Peruvian a few years back.

Ahhhh and this sweater! I wish the camera could capture the subtle camo print on it which makes it so rad. Found it in a second hand designer store in Tokyo for a really good price!

So many things to say in this post.
First off, I ate shit walking to work today wearing these brick-shaped Margiela's. I had a delicious drink in my hand and decided to save the drink and not myself. Typical.
Eric got me these platforms for my birthday! Well, I notified him that these WOULD be my birthday present, when I found them for half-off in Hong Kong!

I'm baaaack! I can't begin to describe how good it feels to be home. After 3 weeks, 7 flights, 3 train rides and 8,000 mosquito bites (as you can see on my legs) "home sweet home" is an understatement.

I also got to visit Taiwan for 2 days. I spent 8 years of my childhood there so the place is really special to me. I got to see my sweet mama, 2 of my oldest friends get married, and the only store in Taiwan to carry UNIF! It's called NEU! and it is the siiiiiiccckest store. I started with these classy bad boys from Pleaser. I hated the shape of the heel....how it curved in and was sort of skinny. I also didn't like how the platform wasn't seamless. So what do you use to fix a common problem like that? Good ole BONDO.

I filled the seams with bondo and sanded it until it was smooth. For the heel, I kept packing on the putty to get the right thickness.

The sanding part was terrible. I wanted to cry every minute of it.
After I achieved the shape I wanted, Eric helped me spray it with black texturized rubber spray. I then jammed on some spikes I bought from Ebay and laced them with the dirtiest sneaker laces I could find. There you have it...my "never do it again do it yourself" project.

I'm off to work in Hong Kong, China, Tokyo for the next 3 weeks...Sadly, China does not allow me to use blogger over there so I will not be updating... be good kids and all my love ♥

Spent Mother's Day sans my mother ☹ (miss you!) but I did get to meet Rachel from StyleStalker! We strolled the Rose Bowl flea market together bright and early. Apologies for no pics as I am pretty much brain dead in the mornings and forgot the camera. She is one cool chick though...not only is she sweet as hell but her boyfriend also happens to be in an awesome band called P'NAU (as fate would have it...I had their CD in my car!) check them out!

A little late on the memorial post but I was in Thailand when the legend passed and had no idea until today. I wouldn't describe myself as punk-rock but I sure love the Sex Pistols and have immense respect for Malcolm McLaren, who single-handedly, alongside Vivienne Westwood, paved the style, sound, genre of what we call punk today.

The shirt I'm wearing below is an original 1976 Malcolm McLaren Vivienne Westwood Seditionaries "Personal Collection" tee. Eric, being the rare t-shirt monger, bought this from a private seller for an undisclosed amount. It features Mickey pummeling Minnie...well worth any dollar amount if you ask me.
